Quick Guide: How to delete incomplete documents and signature requests in Cincel

As a document creator, sometimes it will be necessary to delete a document or a signature request from your Cincel account, whether because it was incomplete, contained an error, or is simply no longer needed. This guide shows you how to perform this action easily, but also informs you about the important considerations you should keep in mind.

Step 1: Access the Document folder

  • Once you have logged into the Cincel platform, locate the left side menu.
  • From there, navigate to the folder where the document you want to delete is located. Click on the folder name to open it.

Step 2: Locate and delete the Document

  • Inside the folder, look for the specific document you want to delete.
  • To the right of the document name, you will see a button with three vertical dots (⋮). Click on it.
  • A menu of options will appear. Select ‘Delete document’.
  • Cincel will ask you for confirmation for this action. Click on ‘Confirm’ to proceed with the deletion.

Done! The document and its signature request (if applicable) will have been deleted from your account.

Important considerations when deleting Documents

It is important to consider the implications of deleting a document in Cincel:

  • Irreversible Action: Once a document is deleted from your Cincel account, it cannot be recovered or restored. This is a permanent action. We recommend creating backups of your important documents through integrations with services like Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox.
  • Credit Consumption: If the document has already been sent for signing, even if it was incomplete or sent to an incorrect email address, it will count as a consumed credit from your Cincel plan. This credit is not recovered when deleting the document, as the sending process was initiated.
  • Inability to Cancel Sending: Currently, Cincel does not allow canceling or stopping a signature request once it has been sent. If you need to stop an ongoing signing process, the only way is to delete the document, which, as mentioned, will consume a credit if the sending and signature requests have already been initiated.
  • Access for Signers: If the document was sent, the signers will have received an invitation. Once the document is deleted, any previous invitation link will stop working.
