Liveness Test in Cincel: Identity Verification
The Liveness Test, or Identity Verification, is an advanced security measure in Cincel that ensures the person signing a document is truly who they claim to be. It adds an extra layer of protection and trust to your most important agreements.
What is it? And why use it?
The Liveness Test is the digital equivalent of requesting an official ID in person before signing a contract.
It is a biometric process that associates a signer's identification (through their INE or passport) with their real-time presence (via a “selfie” or video).
This process has three main objectives:
- Prevent fraud: Ensures that only the identity holder can sign.
- Strengthen security: Adds a verification layer to your most sensitive documents.
- Increase evidentiary validity: Generates irrefutable evidence of the signer's identity.
Steps to request identity verification in a document
-
Configure the document to be signed in Cincel
Click the "Create document" button, upload your document, enter the requested data, and click continue.

-
Activate the liveness test
Click on the 3 dots that appear in the box of the signer for whom you want to request identity verification and select the "Edit" option.

-
Save the changes
Check the "Request liveness test from this signer" box and click continue.

Done! With this last step, you will have successfully requested the liveness test from the signer.
💡Tips and suggestions: Remember that you can activate or deactivate the liveness test request per signer before sending the document for signature.
The Signer Experience:
If you request a Liveness Test, the signer will be guided through an intuitive and secure process, without the need to have a Cincel account.
- Start the validation. Upon opening the document, the system will indicate that Identity Verification is required before signing and will ask the signer to click "Validate".
- Scan the official ID. The signer will be asked to take a photo of the front and then the back of their valid INE or passport.
- Perform the Liveness Test. Next, the system will request a "selfie," asking the user to follow on-screen instructions (e.g., move closer to the camera) to confirm it is the same person.
- Sign the document. Once the system has validated the identity, the signer can proceed to sign the document as usual.
How to activate the Liveness Test
The Liveness Test is activated by the document creator during the signer configuration process. It is a feature available as an add-on ('Add-On') or included in Cincel's Business or Enterprise plans.
💡Cincel Tip: By requiring a Liveness Test, you raise the security of your agreements to the highest level. It is the best practice for critical documents such as high-value contracts, promissory notes, or any agreement where the signer's identity is fundamental.
